Itchen Abbas Primary School

Welcome back!

I do hope you have all had a peaceful and relaxing Summer break. Staff have been back in school ensuring we are fully ready for your children to return to a safe and happy environment. Staff are looking refreshed and are excited to be seeing your children again.

I am pleased to report that having carefully read the Governments guidance for full opening of Schools in September, we have not needed to make any changes to the organisational details published to parents in July.

I can confirm that facemasks are currently not required for primary school children or staff. We will resend our routines letter from July to remind you of details. If you have recently visited a country which is not on the exempt from self-isolation list, your child will not be able to attend school until fourteen days (starting the day after your arrival back in England) has passed. If you are in this position, please email the school office and inform us of your expected return to school date, thank you. Please see the following link for more details:

In the first week of term, we will be focusing on settling the children into school and supporting them through any worries or anxiety they may be facing. We know that coming back after just the Summer Holidays can be worrying for children and will provide additional support for children who are finding it trickier than usual after such a disrupted previous school year. We will be revisiting our self-compassion techniques and teaching and revising strategies for supporting ourselves through tricky times. We will also start to assess (through observation) where your children are in their learning so we can quickly and effectively implement the correct support.

As always, please talk to us if you or your child have any concerns or questions – email the office and we will get back to you or you can speak briefly to your teacher at pick up time.
