Itchen Abbas Primary School

Community Projects

We are very fortunate to have an amazing, supportive community.

CAMEO Christmas Lunch 2017

On 12th December, children from Itchen Abbas went to St John's Church to sing with the elderly from our local area at their annual CAMEO (came and meet each other) Christmas lunch.  The children sang beautifully to their audience and with audience participation for some of the carols.  The children really enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to our Carol Service on the 18th December.

The Mayor of Winchester Inauguration May 2017

Our school has been represented by two pupils at the Mayor's Inaugural Cathedral Service.

Paddy Clark (Y5) and Lewis Foster (Y4) proudly represented the school at The Mayor's Inaugural Service at the Cathdral, they took part along with local dignitories and representatives of civic life and the forces and were introduced to the Mayor at a Guildhall reception afterwards.

"Come and meet each other" is an event held at our local church, St. Johns. On the 3rd Tuesday of each month, the church hold a short lunch time service followed by a light two-course lunch. CAMEO's aim is to reach out and offer senior citizens of the Parish this social and spiritual occasion. It is free and open to anyone over 65. Please tell your friends and invite them to go. We have been very fortunate to perform a selection of our musical talents at CAMEO for the last few years and the group have kindly donated £1000 towards our new school website. Without this amazing community, we wouldn't have this new website. Thank you.

The Mayor of Winchesters' Community Awards 2017

This year, our school was one of the first schools to welcome Cllr Jane Rutter, Mayor of Winchester, to present two children with a brand new award.

One award recognises the child who has made the most progress in the past term, in any area of endeavour, e.g. academic progress, music, sport, behaviour or something as simple as attendance. This year the award was won by Scarlett.

The second, and equal, award recognises a child who has been a consistently good performer, again in any area of school life that the headteacher deems appropriate. This year, the award was won by Robert.

Book fair

This year, to encourage children to develop their love of reading, we have once again welcomed PG Well Book shop into our school. The children recieved a world book day voucher to use, as well as an opportunity to view and purchase other brand new books by a variety of authors.
