Itchen Abbas Primary School

Welcome

Welcome message from the Head Teacher:

Welcome to Itchen Abbas Primary School and thank you for taking the time to find out about our school. Making the right decision about which school is best for your child can be difficult, but we hope that our website will be helpful and give you a flavour of Itchen Abbas and the opportunities that this small, country school can provide.

At Itchen Abbas Primary School we aim to develop happy, independent learners with a lifelong curiosity, enquiring minds and desire to learn. We offer an exciting, creative curriculum full of enrichment, through which we aim to develop independent thought and personal challenge. Through praise, encouragement and reassurance we strive to build the children’s confidence and promote high self esteem and self respect alongside reaching their full potential.

The children are at the centre of our school and we are able to really get to know well each individual in our care and meet their needs to the best of our ability. The wonderful family atmosphere here is both supportive and encouraging to the children as they independently make their way in the world for the first time.

I hope that our website will provide you with useful information as a parent and an understanding of the aims and values of our school. We look forward to working alongside you to help your child grow and learn. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Welcome message from the Chair of Governors:

As Chair of Governors I am proud to join all the other Governors in our work to support the school. Our main role is to ensure the school delivers the highest quality education and that all the children make progress and achieve. To do this, we monitor many aspects of school life including the ethos of the school, the curriculum, teaching and learning, finances and the resources. We do this work in partnership with the staff and all members of the community, children, staff and parents.

The Governing body meets regularly - at least once a half term and the membership comes from the elected parents, staff and members of the community. We aim to have a wide spread of skills and expertise to carry out our tasks with commitment and knowledge. We hold and attend courses to increase and enhance our knowledge and skills. It is a very busy but rewarding role!
