Welcome

Welcome message from the Head Teacher

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our school. Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make - and we hope our website gives you a real sense of what makes Itchen Abbas such a special place to grow and learn.

Nestled in the beautiful Hampshire countryside, Itchen Abbas is a small, nurturing village school with big ambitions for every child. We pride ourselves on developing confident, independent learners with enquiring minds, a love of discovery, and the resilience to rise to new challenges.

Our creative, broad curriculum is enriched with outdoor learning, practical experiences, and opportunities that spark curiosity. Children are encouraged to think for themselves, work collaboratively, and celebrate their individuality.

As a close-knit community, we know each child personally. This enables us to support their academic progress while nurturing their emotional wellbeing and self-belief. Our school’s warm, family atmosphere helps children feel safe, valued, and ready to take their first steps into the wider world.

I would love to invite you to visit and see for yourself what life is like at Itchen Abbas Primary School, so please do get in touch!

Welcome message from the Co-Chairs of Governors

As Co-Chairs of Governors we are proud to join all the other Governors in our work to support the school. Our main role is to ensure the school delivers the highest quality education and that all the children make progress and achieve. To do this, we monitor many aspects of school life including the ethos of the school, the curriculum, teaching and learning, finances and the resources. We do this work in partnership with the staff and all members of the community, children, staff and parents.

The Governing body meets regularly - at least once a half term and the membership comes from the elected parents, staff and members of the community. We aim to have a wide spread of skills and expertise to carry out our tasks with commitment and knowledge. We hold and attend courses to increase and enhance our knowledge and skills. It is a very busy but rewarding role!
